Bio
Jair Niño is a Barcelona-based artist who collects discarded fragments of nature from his surroundings and merges them with organic materials to create abstract paintings. With a background in design, branding, photography, and printmaking, his creative practice has evolved in recent years into a thoughtful exploration of eco-sustainable mixed-media art.
Guided by a deep connection to the natural world, Jair uses nature not only as his subject but also as the primary material in his work. He gathers leaves, bark, feathers, and flowers, integrating them into the foundational layers of his compositions. Combined with natural pigments, clay, and eco-friendly paints, these elements form richly textured pieces that explore transformation, impermanence, and decay.
Jair’s work has been exhibited in London, Hastings, Madrid, Barcelona, and Berlin. His current art practice invites viewers to reflect on more sustainable ways of relating to the environment, and encourages fellow artists to explore cleaner, more conscious methods of creative expression.
Statement
My creative process begins with quiet observation of my surroundings. Fallen leaves, feathers, flowers, and decaying branches—often overlooked or dismissed as lifeless—seem to connect with me in subtle ways, offering gentle reminders of nature’s resilience and constant transformation.
I gather these organic fragments and embed them into my abstract artworks, layering them beneath raw, eco-conscious materials such as charcoal, clay, natural pigments, and eco-friendly paint. Though hidden from plain view, they remain the essence of each piece—granted a second life through art.
Each work serves as a quiet tribute to our deep connection with the natural world. It invites reflection on how we engage with our environment and encourages a more mindful, sustainable way of living—and of creating art.

In the beginning, I worked with popular industrial materials like oil and acrylic paints. But over time, I became increasingly aware of the waste we, as artists, generate—and the environmental impact our creative processes can have. I realized that with a bit of research and intention, there are cleaner, more sustainable alternatives available for making art.
In my current practice, I collect natural fragments from my surroundings—leaves, flowers, bark, and other organic materials—and combine them with eco-conscious substances such as organic pigments, clay- and graphite-based paints, charcoal, and natural dyes made from fruits and coffee.
Through my work, I aim not only to pay tribute to the natural world by incorporating elements of my environment, but also to encourage fellow artists to explore more sustainable and conscious ways of expressing their creative voice.
